Speech Day and Prize Giving

On Wednesday 5 July we held our annual Speech Day and Prize Giving, celebrating the many achievements and successes of the pupils throughout the year. The celebration took place in a marquee on the field which was packed with a large audience of family and friends.

The guest speakers this year were Mr and Mrs Brown, two Trustees of the Wynaud Trust, a charity that is working to support rural communities in Zambia and who the school have been working with this year. It was great to hear them talk about their work and gave the children a lot to think about.

As well as prize giving, the afternoon was filled with performances from our Years 1 to 6 pupils. The boys choir impressed the audience with their rendition of ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’, ‘I Like the Flowers’ was performed by KS1 and KS2 had their own take on ‘This Old Man’. There were also reports about sports, charity work, expressive arts and from each year group which gave a great overview of the entire year.

It was a fantastic afternoon full of proud children, staff, parents and friends alike. A huge congratulations to all our prize winners, it was a lovely event.
