ISA London North Football Tournament

On Monday 13 November Oaklands Girls Football team took part in the ISA London North 6-a-side Football tournament at Power League Football Centre in Barnet.

On a bitterly cold day they played their socks off producing some very encouraging performances in which they can take great pride.

In a group of 3 schools they played their first match against Southbank International School. After enjoying most of the possession and producing the best football the girls were unlucky to end up on the losing side losing 2-0. This stirred them in wanting to prove that they deserved more and in their next game managed to beat Maple Walk School 2-1. Great football and goals from Livvy and Hannah helped them secure 2nd place in the group.

The team played Gatehouse School in the ‘2nd place match’ in which the girls played some brilliant football. The team marshalled by a well organised defence containing Annabel in goal and Estel and Phoebe in defence, preventing their opponents enjoying any attacking play. Livvy, Maya and Hannah interlinked superbly and played with a determination which was great to see. Franny and Emmy were full of energy too not allowing Gatehouse to have time on the ball constantly putting them under pressure and getting into good positions on the pitch. They ended up winning 2-1 with goals from Hannah and Maya.

None the less they were happy with their performances and were rewarded with jammy dodgers on the mini-bus back to school.

Well done girls!!
