Oaklands’ Mad Scientists!

In Mad Science, the children made their own bouncy balls. They used PVA crystals and soapy water poured into a round mold. The soap helped to bond the crystals together. The children discussed the topic of polymers which is long chains of molecules. These polymer molecules are flexible and they are found in lots of everyday items such as sandwich bags, plastic knives and forks, slime and even in your toothbrush.

The children had lots of fun making their own bouncy balls and could explain how the experiment worked. Well done all you ‘Mad scientist!’
