Oaklands School offers a high standard of education for children between the ages of 2 1/2 and 11 in a happy, secure and disciplined environment. There is an excellent ethos of mutual respect, friendliness and good behaviour which means that children want to come to school and are able to achieve their potential both in their academic studies and in their broader personal development. Emphasis is placed on the core subjects in preparation for the requirements of the various entrance examinations that they may have to take.
The School is set in most attractive surroundings. It is a thriving and successful school, well-established in the area. Pupils are taught in small well-resourced surroundings and your children will be given opportunities to think for themselves, take responsibility and make discoveries. Special strengths are developed and extra help is available for any difficulties encountered. All staff, both in and out of the classroom are highly professional, enthusiastic and committed. High standards are set in every aspect of school life.
We welcome children from all faiths and cultures, although we have a Christian foundation. Opportunities are available during assemblies, Religious Education lessons and our Personal and Social Education programme to learn about different faiths and traditions.
Our School offers an exciting experience and we will continue to develop the quality of the education that we offer. We keep abreast of change. Emphasis is placed on the use of the latest technology in all aspects of the curriculum. Learning should be fun and satisfaction can be derived from going to an art exhibition, playing a musical instrument, taking part in a play, exploring a history project or being in a sports team as well as obtaining good academic foundations. We create a learning environment with a variety of activities for the children to remember; a positive learning experience that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
Above all, Oaklands lives up to its motto 'E Pluribus Unum'. Pupils and staff retain their individuality but all take pride in their school where a warm and friendly atmosphere is an outstanding feature and everyone shows care and consideration for each other. We value the contribution that you, as parents, make to the education of your children, for you too are part of the School. You will always be welcome to come and see us to discuss your child's progress and there are many events during the year that you will be welcome to attend.
Please come and see us for yourselves for there is no substitute for a visit. Simply telephone our school secretary for an appointment.
We look forward to seeing you.
