Students' Work

Year 3 Numeracy

In Year 3 numeracy lessons the children have been learning how to add 3 digit numbers together.  The children played a game called 'full of beans'.  Each child had a turn of throwing bean bags into hoops with different scores.  The hoops furthest away had higher scores.  We added the totals together on whiteboards to find the winner.  The winning score was 1,875!

Pond Dipping - Year 3

Year 3 children went pond dipping in the school grounds with 'Squirrel' from the EFCT (Epping Forest Centenary Trust).

We had great fun using the pond dipping equipment to discover the various inhabitants of our pond.  Using a key, we discovered a 'Midge Fly Larvae' which looked like a tiny red worm.

Curriculum Week - The Monarchy

Our theme this year was 'the Monarchy'.  Years 3 to 6 had an excellent day out at the Tower of London where they saw the Crown Jewels and explored the White Tower.  During the week they learnt about the personalities of our Monarchs and their symbols of power.  Years 1 & 2 went to Greenwich to visit the Queen's House and the Royal Barge.  Garden Room staged the Royal Wedding in the Hall and Years 1 & 2 enjoyed a street party to celebrate, having first made sandwiches, iced biscuits and cakes.

Year 1 & 2 had spent the week making crowns, jewellery boxes and jam sandwiches ready to meet the Queen.  They enjoyed a question and answer session with the Queen as well as some country dancing.  They also had a trip to the Queen's House and the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich.
