Year 3 Trip to Verulamium
Year 3 travelled back nearly 2000 to the Ancient city of Verulamium, now commonly known as St. Albans. We discovered all about the Romans, they looked at the remains of what the archaeologists dug up, including old skeletons, pottery, games, coins and even food and drink items! The children had a chance to visit a ‘Roman Market’ thinking about the items available at certain stalls and what they are used for. Finally, the children got to visit a very recent dig, talking to archaeologists Tom and Alex about their recent discoveries in a nearby car park. They were able to ask them questions about what was discovered and learnt about the history of the buildings that were uncovered. Overall, a really fun experience for all the children and adults with lots of learning throughout!
