January in STEM Club

Over the past few weeks in STEM Club, the children have been busy exploring the fascinating world of liquids! They’ve investigated a variety of mystery liquids, comparing their densities and observing how different substances behave when mixed. One of their favourite activities involved adding food colouring to milk and watching colourful swirling patterns form, this was a fun way to see science in action.

Using what they learned about liquid density, the children then created their very own homemade lava lamps, experimenting with how oil, water, and fizzing tablets interact to produce exciting bubbling effects.

As we continue our theme of exploring liquids, we’ll soon be turning our attention to fruit acidity, comparing different fruits and testing their pH levels. This will help the children understand how acids work and how we can measure them in everyday foods.
