Year 1 Maths
Class 1W have been looking at part-whole models in Maths. They used cubes to split the whole into different parts. For example, 5 can be split into 5 and 0, 4 and 1, 3 and 2. Part-whole models aid with their addition and subtraction sentences, which is the class' next Maths unit.
1C have spent their first term focusing on Place Value to ten in Maths and have really enjoyed using the White Rose scheme. Mrs Christofi challenged them to make a ‘human number line’ in under one minute which they did, working together as a team. More recently, they have progressed onto the basics of addition and have been using the part-whole model to learn how to add two digits together. The children have worked really hard this term and are already making great progress. Keep up the hard work, 1C!
