Year 4 Visit The Globe Theatre
Year 4 recently enjoyed a fantastic trip to the Globe Theatre on London’s South Bank to celebrate the end of their Topic on The Tudors. Keen to reduce their carbon footprint, the children travelled by London Underground, which added to the excitement of the day.
When they arrived at the Globe, the children were given a tour of the theatre. They learnt that today’s Globe is a faithful reconstruction of the original theatre built in 1599, which once entertained crowds of up to four thousand people. The children were surprised to discover that in Tudor times no women acted on stage. Thankfully, times have moved on since then.
Alongside their tour, Year 4 took part in a creative drama workshop where they learnt new skills and brought Shakespeare’s world to life. The day finished with a scenic walk across the Millennium Bridge, where the children had great fun spotting London landmarks.
