Year 5 visited the Ragged School Museum in Mile End where they travelled back in time to the year 1884 and met Miss Perkins – a strict, no-nonsense Victorian teacher. They experienced reading, writing and arithmetic as it was taught back then, which for some of them meant struggling to write with the ‘correct’ hand! They also learnt about life in a poor Victorian household and got to use genuine artefacts as they did back then.
