Lower Kindergarten’s Forest Walk!

Today Lower Kindergarten went on a forest walk (within Oakland’s grounds!). The children were very excited because as well as going to parts of the school they have never explored before, they all wore their new school wellington boots!! They had lots of fun exploring and playing in the outdoor environment. They learnt about different trees and saw conkers on one tree and acorns on another. A cheeky squirrel knocked an acorn off whilst they were collecting leaves; they had to jump out the way before it knocked them on the head! They observed the different colours of the leaves and this lead to discussions about the new season. At the end of their walk, the children had time to explore amongst the leaves and logs. They had the opportunity to climb, jump and some of them chose to do some swinging like monkeys too!! A very exciting morning.
