Year 5 had a wonderful day learning about the Victorian period at the Royal Gunpowder Mills. They discovered how the Victorians lived and experienced different aspects of their life. Pupils learnt about traditional games and fun before the computer age and managed to survive in a Victorian classroom. The children found out what life was like as a working child and particularly enjoyed practical activities including shoe polishing and match box packing. Hands-on activities, re-enactments and workshops made this a fantastic day of fun learning to be explored further in class.
