In KS2 Art Club we have been focussing on cloth and patterns used in African Wax and Indonesian batik. We made our own oil pastel batik pictures. First we drew a picture in oil pastels. Then we screwed up the paper several times to form creases. We then painted a thick layer of black paint over the oil pastel picture. Lastly, we washed off the black paint, only leaving paint in the creases to create a batik-like effect.
