What a term we’ve had at Wild Woods! We definitely ensure the children put the WILD into the woods! We’ve encouraged lots of wild play and over the term the children have built up their knowledge, confidence and safety to now use the rope swing, put up tarp den shelters and dig dig dig for mud for the mud kitchen on their own! We also work on their nature knowledge with bug hunts, tree ID, animal footprints, we took a closer look at seeds and nuts in our conker vs pine cone challenge and this week looked at hibernation and migration – ask your Wild Wooder what blue tits do….? Flock together! – expect a big hug!! We care for the animals too and have made pine cone bird feeders and fill up the bird feeders with seed and fat balls every week. We have also introduced them to bushcraft! The den building to make shelter and fire safety before we introduce the campfire next term. The children have learnt how to use fire steels to make sparks and developed onto lighting cotton wool balls. Now the weather has finally got cold we start with lots of running round games on the field and our final week of term will be hot chocolate around the campfire!
We wish everyone a great season break and will be back in the woods in January
