This week saw Oaklands school take part in the ‘Enfield School Gymnastics Festival’ for the very first time. It was fantastic that we were allowed to compete seeing as we are in a different borough but it provided our pupils an opportunity to showcase their talents. Monday saw Annabella, Phoebe, Charlotte, Mya and Ava from 2S take part in the Year 2 beginners competition. They performed well beyond their early years and managed to finish 6th out of 15 schools which is an amazing achievement.
Tuesday was the turn of the Year 4, and representing Oaklands were Rae, Francesca, Marin and Sophia who put in a great effort with their routines to finish 14th out of 20 schools. On Thursday Ciara from Year 6 and Maya, Hannah, Gracen and Evie from Year 5 took part in the intermediate competition at Edmonton Leisure Centre. There were some very stiff competition from other schools and the routines tested their ability and nerve for the afternoon. They managed to finish 10th out of 17 schools which was an amazing achievement.
The future looks good for Gymnastics at Oaklands and we look forward to more sporting competition in the new year.
