Year 1 have been working on multiplication this week. They are becoming fluent in counting in 2s, 5s and 10s to help them count objects in these multiples to work out totals. They have been making arrays using counters and then working out totals. Arrays are concrete or pictorial representations to help children understand multiplication and division. They are typically shown as rows of dots or counters, for example, 2 x 3 would be shown as two rows of three dots/counters. Have a look at some of the arrays they made!
