Oranges, sweeties, cocktail sticks and candles can only mean one thing – Christingle time! It has become a tradition at Oaklands for the children to make a Christingle, and on Monday 3 December Jenna from Lifeworks in Loughton came to school to show the children in KS2 how to do it. Each element of the Christingle has a special meaning and helps to tell the Christian story of God’s love for the world. It was a sticky business and not without broken candles and cocktail sticks, and a few sweeties surreptitiously munched, however the children thoroughly enjoyed the activity and all took home their special candle.
