Forest Swimming Gala

On a bitterly cold and icy night, pupils from Oaklands School took part in the annual Forest School Swim Gala. It was probably the best place to be considering the arctic conditions outside.

After a thorough warm up and team talk, our girls and boys were all set for their respective races against some very strong schools in the area. That didn’t curtail their desire to do their best and prove what a great group of swimmers we have at our school.

There were so many positives to take out from the event including Jeyda and Alex swimming front crawls and individual medleys which is an outstanding achievement in itself. They both finished in the top places in their heats. Emmy and Ellie also won their heats showing wonderful technique. Cailan and Arjun were representing the school for the first time at a swimming event and they too showed courage and spirit against some strong opposition. Annabella, Danny and Tristan swam very well also finishing in the top places in their respective heats. Lillia showed her promising potential in the pool with a great breaststroke leg of the medley relay in the girls team and they followed that up with a top place finish also. I am so proud of them all and how they competed and conducted themselves on the day and Oaklands Swimming certainly has a future. We managed to finish in 6th place out of 12 which is an amazing achievement! Well done Team!
