Chinese New Year In Kindergarten

The children in Kindergarten have been enjoying learning about Chinese New Year. They have participated in a lots of activities including making Lanterns, a food tasting session, learning how to say ‘Hello’ in Chinese and cooking for their friends in our pop-up restaurant!

During Music and Movement in the hall with Mrs Rathbone, the children learnt a new song about Chinese New Year. Then in small groups they danced around the hall using the Chinese Dragon head whilst the other children played different instruments to the rhythm of the music.

The children tried noodles, rice, spring rolls, prawn crackers and sweet and sour sauce. All the children really enjoyed the prawn crackers!

Our pop-up Chinese restaurant was a huge success, all the children participated in role play this week. They loved dressing up in the Chinese clothes, pretending to cook some food and ‘eating’ using the chopsticks.
