Upper Kindergarten Celebrate Chinese New Year

Upper Kindergarten have been learning about Chinese New Year. The children learnt how people celebrate the festival by decorating their houses, wearing new clothes, giving red envelopes.

For our physical development they used a thin paintbrush and black paint to trace over the word ‘Hello’ in Chinese. We spoke to the children about how different the letters were and how some people speak a different language called Chinese.

The children also got to try some new foods this week during their ‘Tasting Session’. Trying noodles, rice, spring rolls, prawn crackers and sweet and sour sauce. Most children said it all tasted very yummy!

For Expressive Arts, the children made their own Chinese Lanterns! First, they had to cut along some lines and then they added the glue. Finally, they sprinkled on red and gold glitter, sequins and gems. They look fantastic!
