Oaklands continue their impressive winning streak!!
Pupils from Years 3-6 took part in the West Essex School Sports Partnership Mini-Tennis event at Theydon Bois Tennis Club on a warm and sunny Friday afternoon. After fueling themselves with a sports packed lunch, they were energised and ready for the challenge awaiting them. 5 other schools stood in their way, with all the children able to play 5 matches each to earn as many points as they could. Our children played with spirit and sportsmanship against some tough opposition.
Year 3 and 4 pupils managed to tie for first with St John’s COFE, and they played an extra match in a play-off to see who would be crowned gold medal winners. They rose to the challenge, and came out victorious, and we had some very happy faces when they went up to collect their medals.
In the Year 5 and 6 competition, we saw another close run contest, with Oaklands tying for first with White Bridge. Another play-off ensued, and we showed excellent character to come out on top, and be awarded winners!
A massive congratulations to our amazing tennis team, cheered on by a huge Oaklands parent contingent!
